| James Ackroyd was born
February 6, 1831 at Edlington. He was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth
(Mitchell) Ackroyd. James married Mary Stocks of Tickhill November 1854.
According to the 'Gazette' Doncaster Directory of 1899 James Ackroyd & sons
were Greengrocers, Fruiterers & c. James died in August 1900 and the 1901
census shows that Mary his wife carried on the business.
More research has to be done as what happened
to the business on Mary's death in 1910 is not known. We need to research to
establish if it was sold or one of the sons continued to run it. |
